Director's Note
A crime thriller with a Western flavour, tinged with the grotesque and an almost mythological fatalism. The tone is that of dusty noir weathered bodies, heavy silences, sudden, brutal violence set against a highly original visual world: an all female circus, many of the performers in wheelchairs or on crutches, which transforms disability into theatrical power and male toil into menial labour. Tonal references: the dusty fatalism of certain frontier films, the circus like and grotesque aesthetic, and the claustrophobic tension of ‘one location, countdown to fire’ films.
